First Post…

Welcome to Productive Pete. My own little piece of the big internet world to share all the ways that I attempt to organize my life, in order to have time for the “good stuff” – all that inspires & brings joy. In this fast-paced world, I still strive to give my kids a magical – safe – exciting – healthy – imaginative childhood. I quickly learned that to accomplish this, a certain level of planning & organizing would have to occur. For me, going throughout my day without a plan leads to complete chaos. This chaos means there is less time in the day for the “good stuff” I truly wish to be doing.

I’ve had a tendency to categorize and organize since I was young. I would spend hours sorting my sticker sheets by themes (think – Lisa Frank or not Lisa Frank) or redoing my baseball card collection. In high school I loved when I had a new planner to decorate and update.  Along with my love of organizing, I have also been infatuated with photography.  I enjoy taking photos of anything from landscapes to animals to my friends and family. It really doesn’t matter the subject, I have always enjoyed taking photos of everything. Along with my need to organize and a love of photography, a creative streak exists within me too. While none of my crafting skills are to an advanced level, I have dabbled in crochet, taught myself how to (badly) hem my son’s pants and love a good DIY project. Since having my kids the creative options I can do with them, and for them, is endless.

Are you seeing how Productive Pete came to be my brain child? I will have the chance to combine three things that I not only love, but help me survive this crazy life! One day I will be sharing organizational tips that have been lifesavers for me and the next day I can show “kind-of nailed it” projects from Pinterest. All the while documenting the journey not only through words, but through pictures as well. Productive Pete is my trifecta!

I’ve created Productive Pete with a simple desire to share what I love – how to get organized so that there is more time for the important stuff. I’ll admit, sharing about good food, tips & tricks to raising kids, and all the fun stuff that makes getting life’s daily chores done worth it, will probably be more fun than sharing how to get organized. But for me, if I don’t have the organization, I do not have the time for the creative.
