Or maybe you have several Easter Celebrations and you want a way to make it through the Easter Weekend with a special surprise at one of them?

Whatever the reason, this Lego Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt is sure to be a hit with your children. They will grab the eggs and shake them. Possibly thinking it’s jelly beans, but the sound will be a little bit off.

So they sneak a peek and see that they aren’t hunting for candy, stickers, or tattoos. They are hunting Legos!

What makes this a true Scavenger Hunt

Now there are two ways you can set up your LEGO Easter Egg Hunt. The first way is to simply hide the LEGO-filled eggs as you normally would. Then Easter morning it would be a traditional search for the eggs hunt.

This is great for younger kids like preschoolers who can’t read yet & would struggle with the next idea.

The other way to do it makes it a little more like a scavenger hunt. You will need to provide your child with clues that guide them in finding all of the hidden eggs.

What’s great about this way is that you can hide the eggs in places less obvious. For example, you could hide them in cereal boxes, cabinets, shoes, or even under your child’s pillow!

Your clues don’t have to be difficult to come up with, just use a little imagination. Here are a few ideas to help you brainstorm.

LEGO SCAVENGER HUNT CLUE IDEAS

  • This is where you put your feet every morning (hide an egg in a child’s shoes)
  • When sleepy at night your head rests on this (under a pillow)
  • Hungry for breakfast yet? Fruit Loops are this bunny’s favorite! (in cereal box)

Now that you know the two options for setting up the hunt let’s talk about how to handle the hunt for the number of children you will have hunting.

If you have one child who will be hunting eggs then the set-up for this game will be incredibly easy! Choose the Lego Set that you want to use for the hunt and spread it out on a table.

If you have large pieces you might need to set them aside until after the hunt or purchase Jumbo Plastic Easter Eggs that can fit them.

Place your pieces into the eggs and make sure they are sealed tightly! If you are going to be hunting eggs outside, I highly recommend putting the pieces into ziplock bags inside of the eggs. Or you could tape the eggs shut as well.

Nothing would make Easter morning crazier than searching through your front yard for the 10 pieces that fell out of an egg!

Hunt for Multiple Children with One LEGO Set

Now let’s talk about how to have a Lego Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt when you have more than one child who will be hunting.

The first way to do this is to fill the eggs with one Lego Set as mentioned above and have your children put the set together as a team.

If this won’t work for your family, you could also purchase a LEGO Creative Box that isn’t necessarily a set but has numerous Lego’s to build creatively. This way each child receives Legos, but the pieces they found aren’t needed for a specific build.

But what if you have one Lego-loving child and another one who thinks of those amazing plastic bricks with disdain? There’s a solution for that too.

If this is the case, you will need to mark the eggs containing LEGOS with a symbol and also mark eggs for your other child with a different symbol.

Keep reading for more information on the symbols & keeping eggs separate for each child.

Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt for Multiple Children with Individual Sets

Now if all your children love Legos, you could purchase individual sets for each child. This would mean simply marking the eggs of each child’s set with their own symbol.

Use a Sharpie marker and assign each child either a number, a shape, or a letter. Explain they can’t take their sibling’s eggs, just their own.

Now when the hunt begins they know to only pick up the eggs with their symbol on them.

I highly recommend checking everyone’s eggs before they begin opening them post-hunt to make sure the correct eggs were picked up by the correct kiddo.

Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt at Family Gatherings

On one side of our family, my boys are the only kids young enough to want to hunt eggs.

I wouldn’t attempt this Scavenger Hunt at a larger family gathering unless you were using a creative box of LEGOS and not sets. But it’s something that would help keep kids entertained at a smaller family Easter Celebration.

So if a LEGO Easter Egg Hunt seems like too much to do for Easter morning amongst the baskets, church, and family gatherings – take it with you!

Easter LEGO Sets for Hiding

The most economical set I can find this year is this LEGO Yellow Easter Bunny.

There are a few other LEGO Easter sets that would be perfect for hiding in the eggs. My personal favorite is the LEGO BrickHeadz Easter Bunny.

Another favorite is this LEGO Holiday Easter Egg Hunt Building Kit. My boys love this set because it has eggs & even a tiny basket.

Odds are if this idea of a LEGO Easter Egg Hunt is perfect for your child, then an Easter basket full of fun LEGO-themed gifts would be perfect too! So make sure you take a peek at our LEGO Gift Guide for Kids to find more fun items to fill up their Easter Basket.

It has all kinds of LEGO ideas like headlamps, encyclopedias, and STEM kits to name a few.

Tips & Tricks to perfect the Lego Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt

First, I like to have LEGO-filled eggs, but also other eggs with candy, stickers, etc as well. Opening the LEGO eggs alone might make your child a little sad that they didn’t get what they traditionally do; even if they loved the Legos!

Second, have a bag or place ready for when they open the Lego-filled eggs. A cookie sheet works perfectly for keeping Legos in one place.

Also, If you taped the eggs, be prepared to remove the tape.

Finally, if you are taking these somewhere – don’t forget the instructions and large pieces that wouldn’t fit in eggs. Your child will be super bummed to find all the pieces and then not have the instructions.
