Fun Outdoor Water Toys for Kids

There are hundreds of water games and activities that will ensure your kids have a great time outside.

These however sometimes take a lot of preparation for already busy parents.

That’s why there’s nothing better, and easier on mom, than having some fun water toys to quickly use right at home.

These ideas are some of the best backyard outdoor water toys for kids. This means you don’t even have to leave your home to keep summer boredom at bay.

There’s no driving to the local pool or prepping a fun water game the night before.

It’s just simple, easy water fun in your backyard.

Let’s jump right in and look at some of the best water toys for summer this year.

Water Fun at Home

Unlike water games, most of these water toys allow you to “set them up and play” without a lot of planning.

In other words, these ideas are great for last-minute water playtime.

Let’s start with a classic that my boys have loved every summer – the blowup pool!

INFLATABLE POOLS

Do you guys remember the hard plastic pools from the 80’s? Well, pools have come a long way since those heavy monstrosities of our childhood.

Current designs of pools can be easily taken down and dried out. Or there are hacks, like covering the pool with a fitted sheet, to keep it usable for more than a day.

Inflatable pools like the one below can also be purchased fairly inexpensively.

If you have a little one, these smaller pools are great for helping them cool off.

WET INFLATABLE BOUNCERS

Do you remember what I was talking about with those heavy pools from our childhood? Well, we didn’t have anything like these wet inflatables!

I put off purchasing one of these for several years because of first, the cost. Even catching them on sale they can cost a pretty penny.

Second, I assumed the setup would be horrendous.

The cost was a little hard to swallow, but when you think about how many years of use you will get out of the inflatable, it’s easier to handle.

The setup and takedown of these types of inflatables aren’t that bad. The worst part, in my opinion, is making sure the inflatable is completely dry before storing it.

This is the water inflatable we have and I can say that it has given us four years of summer of fun and is still going strong.

Another one that my friends had is this Costzon Inflatable Slide Bouncer & they gave it rave reviews as well.

SLIP ‘N SLIDES

First, there is nothing wrong with a good long tarp and some baby soap to create a perfect homemade slip ‘n slide!

Mom tip – Using the tear-free baby soap on any slip ‘n slide will ensure you don’t have red-eyed, crying children.

At least from soap in their eyes. As a mom of three young boys collision tears are going to happen.

Of course, there are lots of options if you’d rather purchase a slip ‘n slide. We have owned several over the years and our favorites were the ones with large pools at the end, like the TEAM MAGNUS Slip ‘n Slide.

This is a super long & durable slip ‘n slide with the pool at the end.

SPRINKLERS

When it comes to water activities for kids that are easy to set up, sprinklers might be the easiest.

Attach the hose, crank it on, and watch your kids have a blast.

Now if you want to step up your sprinkler game, check the following ideas out.

First is a Unicorn Sprinkler!

If unicorns aren’t your jam, they also make this awesome Inflatable Dinosaur Sprinkler.

And if that doesn’t make you excited, check out this Trampoline Sprinkler

A little bit of advice if you have never added water to your trampoline. It can make it very slippery.

I would attempt wetting your trampoline for your kids and see how that goes before spending money on a trampoline waterpark.

WATER GUNS

First, if you have Fortnite-playing children then you need to check out the NERF Fortnite Rl Super Soaker Water Blaster.

Of course, there are tons of other water gun options; but the Fortnite ones rank top in my home right now.

WATER TABLES

Another fun idea for smaller children is to invest in a good water table. Some children don’t enjoy the feel of a big pool, so having an option like this next to your pool is a great way to keep everyone entertained.

You can find a simple water table, like this Little Tikes Frog Pond Water Table.

Of course, there are lots of other options that increase the accessories, but also the price. For example, this super fun Little Tikes Fountain Factory Water Table.

They make water tables for kids in all kinds of themes and sizes! So make sure you check out all the options for fun Water Tables

UNIQUE & FUN ACTIVITIES FOR BORED TWEENS @ HOME

FUN OUTDOOR WATER ACTIVITIES FOR KIDS THIS SUMMER

If pools and sprinklers are already in your water play stash, then these unique ideas might be just what you are looking for this summer.

The first one you have probably seen hundreds of DIY tutorials on Pinterest on how to make them. I have attempted to make a water blob and it was an epic fail.

If you aren’t looking to make a DIY water blob, you can purchase them already made, like this Sun Squad Rainbow Mat.

Another fun idea is this BANZAI Grand Slam Baseball Water Slide.

We own this super fun baseball slide and the boys love playing a game and sliding around on it.

Finally, this one just might be my boys’ absolute favorite – Bunch O Balloons Water Balloons.

You can purchase just the balloons and they are a sore-finger, time-saving wonder of this world. But this slingshot takes the fun to the next level!
