While searching Pinterest for fun Valentine’s Day crafts and food projects to make with my boys, I stumbled upon Katie at SoDressedUpLifeandStyle.com and her post on Valentine’s Day Teddy Treats. They are super cute and totally inspired me to come up with a way to do this with chocolate instead of the conversation hearts she uses. Because, you know, chocolate is a girl’s best friend! If you want to see her Teddy Treats click on the link above! They are adorable!

    Chocolate Teddy Bear Bites

So these Chocolate Teddy Bear Bites are super easy to make. You only need Teddy Grahams, M&M’s and icing. My 3-year-old even helped out (when he wasn’t busy eating the ingredients).

The teacher in me would like to point out that this is a great fine-motor activity too! I love when those little finger muscles are getting used and strengthened.

Ingredients for Chocolate Teddy Bear Bites

    • Teddy Grahams
    • M&M’s
    • Icing (powdered sugar, milk)

I chose to make my favorite and easiest sugar cookie icing because it dries quickly and hard. I was able to put all of the finished Chocolate Teddy Bear Bites in a container and none of the chocolates fell off! I’ve never made these using canned icing as it doesn’t seem to harden up well, but feel free to save a step and try it! Let me know in the comments if it worked! See the icing recipe I used below:

    Icing recipe:

    1. Add 1 tsp of Milk into 1 cup of Powdered Sugar (yep, that’s it!)
    2. Mix well until you have a thick icing, it shouldn’t easily drip off the spoon. Add more powdered sugar if needed to reach this consistency.
    3. TIP – it won’t seem like you have enough milk added in the beginning, but DO NOT add more milk right away. This type of icing takes very little milk to change the consistency of the final product.

    Chocolate Teddy Bear Bites Instructions

    1. Place all of your teddy bears tummy side up.
    2. Drop your icing into a pastry bag, or I like to use a ziplock bag and cut off a very small section of the corner. This way my boys can help without making such a huge mess since you can seal up the end.
    3. Squeeze icing onto the tummy of the bear
    4. Place your chocolate onto the icing
    5. Let Chocolate Teddy Bears Bites sit for at least an hour to make sure the icing has hardened and the chocolate is firmly attached.

So now you have a fun and easy Valentine’s Day Treat you can make with your kids! It’s great for school parties or even just Valentine’s Day fun at home!
